Bigscam.org offers resources and tips to help individuals protect themselves from scams and fraud. It provides information on spotting and avoiding common scams and what to do if you fall victim to a scam.
Poor Timing and Lack of Communication
The main issue was the timing of the car pick-up. I was told Iโd get a call on the selected day with a 1-hour window between 6 AM and 3 PM. After waiting at home for 7.5 hours, I finally got a call at 1:30 PM saying the tow truck would arrive in 30 minutes. There was no 1-hour window or even a 1-hour notice. It completely messed up my plans for the day.
Frustrating Pickup Experience
The first pickup attempt didnโt go as plannedโthe company never actually scheduled it, so I ended up waiting around all day for nothing. After I followed up, they assured me the pickup would definitely happen the next day and gave me a window between 6 AM and 3 PM. Well, they didnโt show up until 4:30 PM. To be fair, they did call right at 3 to let me know they were running late, which I appreciated, but the whole experience was still pretty frustrating.
Where Is My Donation Receipt?
I donated but never received a receipt, which I need for my 2024 taxes. I've reached out and spoken to someone a few times now, but nothing has come of it. It's already April 2025, and Iโm still waiting. I really need a paper copy sent to my home addressโthis is getting frustrating.
Mismanagement of Donation Process
The process was unclear, and the people on the phone had no idea what the towing company was doing. I didnโt receive a donation receipt for several days after making the donation. Then, I received a call trying to convince me that it was my fault the experience didnโt meet expectations. Afterward, I got a reply to my review claiming I was the confused one. The national call center needs to take responsibility for their poor performance, instead of blaming me for simply trying to make a donation.
