Not Recommended
It took nearly 6 weeks to receive my order, which was 5 weeks later than promised at checkout. While they did eventually send everything, the process was frustrating. They offered a loaner BCD while I waited, which was appreciated. However, there were issues with inaccurate inventory, poor communication (only one person was handling updates, and I was left in the dark for a week), and overall delays. Despite their friendly attitude and efforts to fix the problem, I can't recommend this scuba store for online orders. They need a much better system for tracking inventory and managing online orders. My sonโs birthday gift arrived way too late, missing the dives we had planned for it.
Wasted Of Money
I ordered a custom drysuit, and the first one fit perfectly, which was great. For the second suit, I asked for larger sizes, but itโs still so tight I can barely bend over. They also made me custom socks because the boots werenโt available in my size, but the boots ended up being shaped like bananas. To top it off, the replacement neck seal system came unglued after just three dives. I wouldโve returned it, but Iโd already used it for work. This has been the biggest waste of $3,000 Iโve ever spent.
Shipping costs are ridiculous. I ordered rubber gloves from Dive Right, and the brokerage fee alone was six times the duty. After adding everything up, shipping ended up being over 50% of the purchase price. When I contacted Dive Right, they said Iโd be responsible for shipping, restocking, and any other UPS fees if I returned the items. That feels like a ripoff. I was excited to receive the order, but then UPS billed me $84โonly $11 of that was duty; the rest was a $66 brokerage fee plus tax. Thatโs on top of the $35 shipping I already paid. Total shipping-related costs were half the total value of my order. Dive Right recommends UPS, but if you're ordering from outside the U.S., be careful. They donโt warn you about the high brokerage fees, and even if they claim itโs out of their hands, they should at least be upfront about it.
I brought in two regs, an Aga mask, and buddy phone/comms for a check-up and tune-up before my trip. During the trip, the battery compartment in my console flooded, rendering it useless. I had to rent a replacement for the rest of my trip. To make matters worse, I lost comms with my Aga mask, so I couldnโt communicate with my dive buddy. After the trip, I took my gear back, hoping to get a new console covered by the business and to figure out why my comms failed. I paid $582 for the tune-up, only to find out that the Plainfield service department doesn't handle comms and Iโd need to send it out for another $350. I was never told that comms werenโt included in the check-up or tune-up. They also took no responsibility for the flooded console, and now Iโm stuck paying for both the console and comms repair. Iโve been a loyal customer for years, and this is how Iโm treated.
Unreasonable Return Fee
Dive Right In Scuba charged me $190 for a return, even after I had already paid $58 for return shipping. I expected some return cost, but $190 in fees made no sense. Their policy clearly states they offer a full refund within 60 days of purchaseโbut they didnโt honor that. This was a really disappointing experience. Iโll be sharing it with other divers I know so they can avoid going through the same thing.
Delays In Shipping
I ordered a dive light 18 days ago, and I still haven't received any shipping updates. The last thing they told me was that they are waiting for Big Blue to send them the light, which doesnโt make sense. If they donโt even have it, why list it as in stock on the website? After 16 days, the light is still listed as available, making it seem like the whole Big Blue story is just an excuse. Be cautious if you're buying from themโit's likely going to take forever because they probably donโt have the product in stock. It's like buying from Wish.
