Not Affiliated by Any Institution
I got a postal mail envelope with perforated edges like the tax forms might. The sender of the mail appears to indicate that it's of First State Bank. Below, the important information is written in large font. Stamps are printed. Standard US postal license number is 1935. The inside of the envelope contains the date of closing and loan amount as well as the city and name of lender on the mortgage. The message reads "we are trying to reach you about something important. Thank you for your assistance, The Servicing Center." Included is a mortgage identification number of 112283232. The small print on the lower left of the letter reads they aren't affiliated with or sponsored by any financial institution or lender, and all data is gathered solely from public records. These records might not be correct or completely accurate. If you dial the number you consent to allowing the representative that is responsible solely for compliance with TCPA law to obtain the mortgage details of your number from public records. They will also, if your automated phone number answers and text you with information concerning insurance options. If you are not willing to receive these messages or calls, avoid calling the number listed above. Standard messages and data charges could apply.
Very Clever In Fraud
I recently got I recently took out a Home Line of Credit with an institution. The email I received came from the same bank that has the same name. It just stated: "We have been trying to reach you with regard to you loan, please call us immediately at 1-877-488-6554" Also, it had my actual name, as well as the mortgage ID number. I dialed the number, and was able to get a recorded message... However, the Mortgage ID number didn't correspond to my closing documents. I spoke to the lender, and they said they had never sent notices of this kind.
I recently borrowed an Home Line of Credit with an institution. The email I received was from the institution using the same address, however, it only stated: "We have been trying to reach you with regard to you loan, please call us immediately at 1-877-488-6554" Also, it had my actual name, as well as the mortgage ID number. I called the number, and was able to get a record... However, the mortgage ID did not match the closing papers I had. I contacted the actual lender, and they informed me that they had never sent notices similar to that.
Scammer
It is not clear who was the scammer, however, the scammer had a pre-sorted standard US postal permit number, 1935. The zip number was 95813. The scammer mentioned my recently completed home equity loan and gave me instructions to contact this 877 488-6554 number as soon as possible and pretending to be my loan provider.
